Crook’s Plans Foiled By Child Safety Lock
Police in Columbus, Ohio, say that a would-be thief tried to take some tools from a van belonging to a repair company and got trapped in the vehicle.
Police were called to a business there the morning of May 8 to help a suspect out of a van.
Investigators claim that the unidentified man had forced an entry into one of the vans at an appliance repair company, trying to steal tools.
Things did not go as planned for him, however. He closed the side door of the van so he would not be seen.
What did him in was the child safety lock on the door. Once he was inside the vehicle he couldn’t get the door to open. There was also a heavy steel cage separating the front of the van from the back. So the man basically caught himself.
The driver of the van found our bungling burglar inside when he went out to leave on a service call and called the cops instead.
