Man Gives Motel Personal Information, Tries To Rob It
Police in Vancouver, Washington, say that a man didn’t make the smartest move.
They allege that he filled out an application to rent a room at the Guest House Motel at 11504 N.E. Second Street on the night of November 16 and then came back later and attempted to rob the place.
Paula Repko, who was working the counter that night, said that she asked the man, identified as 28-year-old Nicholas Laredo, if he was joking. Besides, she already had his driver’s license number and other personal information, not to mention that she knew what he looked like.
“I was just like ‘Are you serious?’ ” she said.
She refused to give him a cent.
Instead, she kicked a wall in the hope of getting her boss’s attention, whereupon Laredo ran away.
“I called his bluff successfully this time,” she said. “But you never can be sure.”
Repko gave police Laredo’s room application. They used it to pull up an old mugshot and Repko positively identified him.
